The LS’ driver alert monitor detects an inattentive driver then sounds a warning and suggests a break. According to the NHTSA, drivers who fall asleep cause about 100,000 crashes and 1500 deaths a year. The Flying Spur doesn’t offer a driver alert monitor.

Both the LS and the Flying Spur have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front and rear side-impact airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, post-collision automatic braking systems, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, around view monitors and rear cross-path warning.

The LS comes with a full 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire car and includes 24-hour roadside assistance. The Flying Spur’s 3-year basic warranty expires 1 year sooner.

Lexus’ powertrain warranty covers the LS 3 years longer than Bentley covers the Flying Spur. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 6 years or 70,000 miles. Coverage on the Flying Spur ends after only 3 years.

The LS’ corrosion warranty is 3 years longer than the Flying Spur’s (6 vs. 3 years).

There are over 5 times as many Lexus dealers as there are Bentley dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the LS’ warranty.

A reliable vehicle saves its owner time, money and trouble. Nobody wants to be stranded or have to be without a vehicle while it’s being repaired. Consumer Reports rates the LS’ reliability 35 points higher than the Flying Spur.

On the EPA test cycle the LS 500 AWD gets better fuel mileage than the Flying Spur SPEED running its gasoline engine (17 city/27 hwy vs. 17 city/22 hwy).

A 10-speed automatic is standard on the Lexus LS, for better acceleration and lower engine speed on the highway. Only an eight-speed automatic is available for the Flying Spur.

Changing a flat tire near traffic can be dangerous and inconvenient. The run-flat tires standard on the LS can be driven up to 50 miles without any air pressure, allowing you to drive to a service station for a repair. The Flying Spur doesn’t offer run-flat tires.

For better maneuverability, the LS AWD’s turning circle is 1.3 feet tighter than the Flying Spur’s (39.4 feet vs. 40.7 feet).

The Lexus LS may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 950 pounds less than the Bentley Flying Spur.

The LS is 3.2 inches shorter than the Flying Spur, making the LS easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The LS uses computer-generated active noise cancellation to help remove annoying noise and vibration from the passenger compartment, especially at low frequencies. The Flying Spur doesn’t offer active noise cancellation.

The LS has .3 inches more front shoulder room and 1.4 inches more rear shoulder room than the Flying Spur.

The LS has a much larger trunk than the Flying Spur (17 vs. 12.2 cubic feet).

If the windows are left open on the LS the driver can close them all at the outside door handle. On a hot day the driver can lower the windows at the outside door handle or from a distance using the keyless remote. (This window function must be activated by your Lexus service department.) The driver of the Flying Spur can’t use the remote to operate the windows.

The LS’ power window, power lock, power mirror and cruise control switches are lit from behind, making them plainly visible and easier to operate at night. The Flying Spur’s cruise control switches are unlit, making them difficult to find at night and operate safely.

In poor weather, headlights can lose their effectiveness as grime builds up on their lenses. This can reduce visibility without the driver realizing. The LS has standard headlight washers to keep headlight output high. The Flying Spur doesn’t offer headlight washers.

To shield the driver and front passenger’s vision over a larger portion of the windshield and side windows, the LS has standard extendable sun visors. The Flying Spur doesn’t offer extendable visors.

The Lexus LS outsold the Bentley Flying Spur by over three to one during 2024.
