A better fit can prevent injuries and the increased comfort also encourages passengers to buckle up. The VinFast VF 9 doesn’t offer height-adjustable seat belts.

In the past twenty years hundreds of infants and young children have died after being left in vehicles, usually by accident. When turning the vehicle off, drivers of the LX are reminded to check the back seat if they opened the rear door before starting out. The VF 9 doesn’t offer a back seat reminder.

When descending a steep, off-road slope, the LX’s standard CRAWL Control allows you to creep down safely. The VF 9 doesn’t offer CRAWL Control.

Both the LX and VF 9 have rear cross-traffic warning, but the LX has Parking Support Brake (automatically applies the brakes) to better prevent a collision when backing near traffic. The VF 9’s Rear Cross Traffic Alert doesn’t automatically brake.

Both the LX and the VF 9 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front and rear side-impact airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, post-collision automatic braking systems, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, around view monitors, rear cross-path warning and driver alert monitors.

The LX’s corrosion warranty is unlimited miles longer than the VF 9’s (unlimited vs. 125000 miles).

There are almost 7 times as many Lexus dealers as there are VinFast dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the LX’s warranty.

The LX 600’s standard 3.4 turbo V6 produces 7 more horsepower (409 vs. 402) and 22 lbs.-ft. more torque (479 vs. 457) than the VF 9’s electric motors. The LX 700h’s standard 3.4 turbo V6 hybrid produces 55 more horsepower (457 vs. 402) and 126 lbs.-ft. more torque (583 vs. 457) than the VF 9’s electric motors.

The Lexus LX’s wheels have 6 lugs for longer wheel bearing life, less chance of rotor warping and greater strength. The VinFast VF 9 only has 5 wheel lugs per wheel.

The LX has a standard full size spare tire so a flat doesn’t interrupt your trip. A full size spare isn’t available on the VF 9; it requires you to depend on roadside assistance and your vehicle will have to be towed.

The LX has a standard driver-adjustable suspension system. It allows the driver to choose between an extra-supple ride, reducing fatigue on long trips, or a sport setting, which allows maximum control for tricky roads or off-road. The VF 9’s suspension doesn’t offer adjustable shock absorbers.

The LX has a standard automatic front and rear load leveling suspension to keep ride height level with a heavy load or when towing. The LX’s height leveling suspension allows the driver to raise ride height for better off-road clearance and then lower it again for easier entering and exiting and better on-road handling. The VF 9 doesn’t offer a load leveling suspension.

For greater off-road capability the LX Premium has a greater minimum ground clearance than the VF 9 (7.9 vs. 7.4 inches), allowing the LX to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged. The LX Luxury/Ultra Luxury/F Sport’s minimum ground clearance is .9 inch higher than on the VF 9 (8.3 vs. 7.4 inches).

The Lexus LX may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 600 to 750 pounds less than the VinFast VF 9.

The LX offers optional seating for 8 passengers; the VF 9 can only carry 7.

For enhanced passenger comfort on long trips the LX’s middle and third row seats recline. The VF 9’s third row seats don’t recline.

The LX’s standard towing capacity is much higher than the VF 9’s (8000 vs. 3968 pounds).

Standard Trailer Sway Control on the LX uses the Vehicle Stability Control sensors to detect trailer sway, then uses individual brakes to counteract any swaying and help keep the tow vehicle and trailer steady. The VF 9 doesn’t offer electronic trailer sway control.

The LX has a higher standard payload capacity than the VF 9 (1285 vs. 1212 lbs.).

Unlike the driver-only memory system in the VF 9 Plus, the LX has standard driver and passenger memory, so that when drivers switch, the memory setting adjusts the driver’s seat, steering wheel position and outside mirror angle and the front passenger seat also adjusts to the new passenger’s preset preferences.

The LX’s standard Smart Access allow you to unlock the doors from any outside door handle, open the cargo door, and start the engine, all without removing the key from the pocket or purse. Passive Entry standard on the VF 9 doesn’t offer a sensor on the rear doors, so you’ll have to reach a front handle to unlock the rear door.

To improve rear visibility by keeping the rear window clear, the LX has a standard rear fixed intermittent wiper with a full on position. The rear wiper standard on the VF 9 only has an intermittent setting, so in a hard rain visibility isn’t as good.

In poor weather, headlights can lose their effectiveness as grime builds up on their lenses. This can reduce visibility without the driver realizing. The LX has standard headlight washers to keep headlight output high. The VF 9 doesn’t offer headlight washers.

The Lexus LX has a standard Homelink wireless remote control system for garage door operation and device management, conveniently located on the rear view mirror. Homelink® eliminates the need for separate garage door openers and associated risks of losing, breaking, or having dead batteries. VinFast charges extra for Homelink® on the VF 9.

Both the Lexus LX and the VinFast VF 9 have a standard Qi wireless phone charging system in the front seat. To easily keep personal devices charged in the second row seat, without cables tangling and wearing out, the LX Ultra Luxury also has a standard wireless charging system in the second row seat. The VF 9 does not.

The LX has a 115-volt a/c outlet in the cargo area, allowing you to recharge a laptop or run small household appliances without special adapters that can break or get misplaced. The VF 9 doesn’t offer a house-current electrical outlet.

The Lexus LX outsold the VinFast VF 9 by over 18 to one during 2024.
