The LS’ pre-crash front seatbelts will tighten automatically in the event the vehicle detects an impending crash, improving protection against injury significantly. The Emeya doesn’t offer pre-crash pretensioners.

For enhanced safety, the front seat shoulder belts of the Lexus LS are height-adjustable to accommodate a wide variety of driver and passenger heights. A better fit can prevent injuries and the increased comfort also encourages passengers to buckle up. The Lotus Emeya doesn’t offer height-adjustable seat belts.

The Lexus LS has standard driver and front passenger side knee airbags mounted low on the dashboard. These airbags help prevent the driver and front passenger from sliding under their seatbelts or the main frontal airbags; this keeps them better positioned during a collision for maximum protection. Knee airbags also help keep the legs from striking the dashboard, preventing knee and leg injuries in the case of a serious frontal collision. The Emeya doesn’t offer knee airbags.

Over 200 people are killed each year when backed over by motor vehicles. The LS has a standard Parking Support Brake that uses rear sensors to monitor for objects to the rear and automatically applies the brakes to prevent a collision. The Emeya doesn’t offer automatic braking for stationary objects directly to the rear.

The Lexus LS offers an optional Panoramic View Camera and it also offers an optional rear camera washer to make backing always safe, regardless of road dirt or grime, while the Lotus Emeya doesn’t offer a camera washer, requiring manual cleaning.

Both the LS and the Emeya have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, post-collision automatic braking systems, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, driver alert monitors, available all wheel drive and around view monitors.

The LS comes with a full 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire car. The Emeya’s 3-year/36,000-mile basic warranty expires 1 year or 14,000 miles sooner.

The LS comes with free roadside assistance for 4 years unlimited miles. Lexus will send help if you run out of gas, need a jump-start, lock your keys in or need any assistance on the road. Lotus doesn’t give free roadside assistance for the Emeya.

Lexus’ powertrain warranty covers the LS 3 years and 34000 miles longer than Lotus covers the Emeya. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 6 years or 70,000 miles. Coverage on the Emeya ends after only 3 years or 36,000 miles.

There are over 6 times as many Lexus dealers as there are Lotus dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the LS’ warranty.

For more complete vehicle control the LS offers an optional manually controlled automatic, with the available convenience of an automatic transmission and the complete gear control of a manual transmission without the inconvenience of a clutch. A manually controlled automatic allows the driver to eliminate unwanted shifts and maximize engine braking by down shifting while cornering. The Emeya doesn’t offer a transmission that allows complete gear control.

A 10-speed automatic is standard on the Lexus LS, for better acceleration and lower engine speed on the highway. Only a 2-speed automatic is available for the Emeya.

The LS 500h has a standard continuously variable transmission (CVT). With no “steps” between gears, it can keep the engine at the most efficient speed for fuel economy, or keep it at its peak horsepower indefinitely for maximum acceleration. The Emeya doesn’t offer a CVT.

Changing a flat tire near traffic can be dangerous and inconvenient. The run-flat tires standard on the LS can be driven up to 50 miles without any air pressure, allowing you to drive to a service station for a repair. The Emeya doesn’t offer run-flat tires.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the LS’ wheelbase is 2.2 inches longer than on the Emeya (123 inches vs. 120.8 inches).

The Lexus LS may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 600 to 1000 pounds less than the Lotus Emeya.

With its sedan body style, valet key and remote trunk release lockout, the LS offers cargo security. The Emeya’s hatchback body style and non-lockable folding seat defeat cargo security.

A maintenance reminder system is standard on the LS to save the owner time and money by calculating maintenance intervals for oil changes, spark plug replacement, air filter replacement, tire rotation, radiator flush, brake pad replacement, and transmission fluid replacement, based on odometer mileage. This takes the guesswork out of keeping your vehicle in top condition and helps it last longer. Lotus doesn’t offer a maintenance reminder on the Emeya.

In poor weather, headlights can lose their effectiveness as grime builds up on their lenses. This can reduce visibility without the driver realizing. The LS offers available headlight washers to keep headlight output high. The Emeya doesn’t offer headlight washers.

To shield the driver and front passenger’s vision over a larger portion of the windshield and side windows, the LS has standard extendable sun visors. The Emeya doesn’t offer extendable visors.

A power rear sunshade is standard in the LS and power rear side window sunshades are optional to help block heat and glare for the rear passengers. The Emeya doesn’t offer a rear or rear side window sunshades.

Both the LS and the Emeya offer optional massaging front seats. The LS also offers optional massaging rear seats in order to maximize comfort and eliminate fatigue on long trips. Massaging rear seats aren’t available in the Emeya.

The LS is available in both rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive configurations. The Emeya doesn’t offer a two-wheel drive configuration.
